WHY HIRE A DOULA?

Imagine you are taking a trip to a foreign country. You have read all the books, you have researched places to stay and eat, learned how to say "please" and "thank you" and are ready to visit the destination you've been dreaming about.​

Now imagine that you take the same trip, but you've hired a local guide, somebody who knows the terrain, all the little "off the map" spots, and is committed to making your stay as stress-free and pleasant as possible. Your guide knows the best place to grab lunch, has directions when you get lost, and knows a trustworthy mechanic in case of car trouble. Most importantly, your guide has spent significant time in country and knows the back roads and the local language.

Hiring a doula is much the same as having a local tour guide at your beck and call for the duration of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. The doula is dedicated to supporting you and your decisions. Your doula can help you navigate any pregnancy and birth questions, will be there with you your entire birth supporting and strengthening you, and will be a friendly face to help through all the postpartum recovery and settling in as a new parent.
